Frequently asked question
1. What surfaces are suitable for wall stickers?
Wall stickers adhere best to smooth, clean, and dry surfaces such as painted walls, glass, metal, and sealed wood. Avoid applying on textured walls, unfinished wood, and surfaces with stain repellent paints, low VOC paints, or chalk paints.
2. How do I prepare my wall for a wall sticker?
- Clean the surface to remove any grease or dirt.
- For freshly painted walls, wait 2 to 3 weeks to ensure the paint is fully cured.
3. Can I apply wall stickers to freshly painted walls?
It is recommended to wait at least 2 to 3 weeks for freshly painted walls to dry completely. Even if the walls feel touch dry, they can still be porous, which can affect adhesion.
4. What should I do if my wall has stain repellent, low VOC, or chalk paint?
If your wall has stain repellent paints, low VOC paints, or chalk paints, wipe the wall with a solution of isopropyl alcohol and water, then let it fully dry before applying your wall sticker. Alternatively, you can apply a coat of Zinsser Gardz. Test a small area first as this may slightly alter the paint finish.
5. How do I remove air bubbles during application?
Use a squeegee or a flat edge tool to smooth out the sticker from the center outward to remove air bubbles. If air bubbles persist, use a pin to puncture the bubble and then smooth it out.
6. Can your wall stickers be repositioned?
Most wall stickers are not designed to be repositioned once applied without loss of adhesion, although if you are careful you can reposition. Carefully plan your placement and apply slowly to avoid mistakes.
7. How do I remove wall stickers without damaging the wall?
To remove wall stickers, gently heat the sticker with a hairdryer to loosen the adhesive, then peel it off slowly.
8. Will wall stickers damage my paint or wall surface?
When applied and removed correctly, wall stickers should not damage your paint or wall surface as long as the surface is in sound decorative order. Follow the preparation and removal instructions to minimise any risk of damage.
9. Can I apply wall stickers in humid areas like bathrooms?
Wall stickers can be applied in humid areas. Ensure the surface is clean and dry before application.
10. How long will wall stickers last?
The longevity of wall stickers depends on the conditions of the environment. Our wall stickers can last several years if adhered correctly.
11. Can wall stickers be used on wallpaper?
Wall stickers can be applied to wallpaper; however, they may not adhere as well to heavily textured or patterned wallpaper. Test a small area first to ensure the sticker adheres properly and does not damage the wallpaper when removed.
12. Can you make bespoke wall stickers?
Yes, we offer bespoke wall stickers tailored to your specific design and size requirements. Please contact us with your design ideas and specifications, and we will work with you to create a custom wall sticker that suit your needs.
